Albert C. Corhan, Sr. - Community Involved Adelphi Academy Director
A highly involved member of the Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn administration since 2000, Albert C. Corhan, Sr., holds responsibilities as director of academy operations and advancement. In addition to guiding diverse aspects of a historic private, independent, continuing, coeducational college preparatory day school, Albert C. Corhan, Sr. manages a full range of special projects and events at and on behalf of Adelphi. His association with the school extends to graduating from the Upper School College Preparatory Program, before going on to study at St. John’s University.
Mr. Corhan maintains a strong community presence as a third-generation Salaam Club of New York member, and he helped found the Arab-American Christian Coalition. He has long been involved in efforts that support his local religious and ethnic community, and was an appointed member of state Senator Martin J. Golden’s Brooklyn Unity Task Force. Senator Golden also selected him to help organize the state’s initial Community Emergency Response Team.
Mr. Corhan served on the Merchants of Third Avenue Civic Improvement Association, Inc., board and is a National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center charter member. He has contributed to Walt Disney Birthplace Restoration efforts, as well as efforts to restore historic St. George Theatre in Staten Island. Counting marriage and family as his greatest accomplishments, Albert C. Corhan, Sr., is very active with the Ben-Bay Kiwanis Foundation, Inc., which is associated with Kiwanis International.
